On October 4th, 2008 Russ's Time Rock and Roll Diner in cooperation with the Gene Pitney Commemorative Committee sponsored a Gene Pitney International Fan Convention and Tribute Show in Rockville, CT. USA where Gene grew up. This is the City from where he came to be called by the name "The Rockville Rocket". The proceeds went to the "Gene Pitney Music Scholarship" at Rockville High School in Rockville, CT.
The Convention and Show were held at the Kosciusko Club
1 Vernon Avenue
Rockville, CT
Gene performed here 50 years ago when he was just getting started. Who would have predicted that he would become an International Star and member of the "Rock and Roll Hall OF Fame"
Fans and friends from the UK, Scotland, Wales, Australia and Canada attended along with those from all over the US including Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, South Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and all over Connecticut.
We would like to thank everyone who attended this successful event. Thank You for the cards, letters and e-mails telling us how much you enjoyed this weekend. Because of all of you the Scholarship has grown immensely. Again Thank You very much.

Sunday
Rockville/Vernon Bicentenial Parade
The GPCC had a fantastic float in the Parade. The past was remembered with the marquee from the Palace Theater where Gene started his career. Tony and 2 members of Gene's first band "The Genials" were also on the float.
The float seemed to be a hit all along the parade route.
